Bill Frisell & Branford Marsalis nominated for Grammy Awards

Among the nominees for this year’s Grammy Awards are two artists from Okeh-Records.
Firstly Bill Frisell who was nominated with his album “When You Wish Upon A Star” for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. Frisell's arrangements are as respectful as they are personal. Many are relatively through-composed, like his two-part extractions from Bernstein's soundtrack to the famous 1962 drama based on Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.
Secondly the Branford Marsalis Quartet with special guest Kurt Elling for their work on “Upward Spiral” for the category Best Jazz Vocal Album.
Every track on Upward Spiral confirms the beyond-category strengths of both the Quartet and Elling. "No one in the band had to make adjustments, because good musicians can play many styles of music", Marsalis notes.
This year’s award ceremony will take place on February 12th, 2017. The CBS network will broadcast the show live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
