From the time he arrived in New York in 1986, saxophonist Craig Handy was acknowledged as a musician with big, burly tenor sound, sharp wit, and above all, individuality. Over the next few years he would breathe life into those accolades through a number of important associations: from Betty Carter to Herbie Hancock.
For his new album he collaborates with 2nd Line Smith, a true and very exciting live band to watch and hear, performing music related to the late organist Jimmy Smith, but with a New Orleans take. The Album also features guest appearances by Wynton Marsalis and Dee Dee Bridgewater.
